Non-Domestic Energy Assessment Service

The energy efficiency assessment service is a new pilot scheme to help organisations understand how to reduce energy consumption with the aim of reducing costs.

Who is it for

The service is open to community groups, charities and businesses. It relates to non-domestic buildings only.

What is it?

The energy efficiency assessment is conducted by an in house accredited non-domestic energy assessor, and aims to support community groups, charities and businesses to identify energy saving opportunities within their buildings and operations.

The service offers non-domestic Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) as well as energy efficiency advice and support.

Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)

We will organise a site visit and conduct a comprehensive assessment of your building's construction, energy usage patterns, efficiency and potential energy savings, applying the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) methodology.

We will lodge your EPC on the central non -domestic EPC register.

* A non-refundable EPC lodgement fee must be paid prior to assessment.

You can find out more about EPCs on our About energy performance certificate (EPC) for commercial buildings webpage.

Energy Efficiency Recommendations

The Energy Efficiency Recommendation Report will go beyond an EPC.

We will work with you to:

  • Truly understand your energy usage, patterns and operations
  • Review your bills
  • Run modelling on potential improvements to define potential savings
  • Highlight potential funding opportunities
  • Support with finding a supplier for energy improvement works

You can expect to receive a comprehensive report. It will detail recommended energy efficiency measures, implementation advice and potential suitable funding support.

If you have any further questions, you can talk to your energy assessor and get advice.

How much does it costs

The charges vary depending on your organisation type and building type and sizes.

You will be provided with a tailored quote specific to your organisation and buildings.

For indication only, for a small property that will take 2 days in total to provide the full service:

  • For a place providing only vital community services like a food bank, warm hub, the fees would be the EPC lodging fee of £44
  • For community organisations (for example a small community hall): the fees would be £800
  • Businesses (small business premises): the fees would be £1,150
