Year 7 fire and water safety school visits

Our Year 7 safety sessions recognise the increasing freedoms and independence that children this age are starting to experience.

Year 7 fire safety

This session focuses on how to stay safe at home, whilst also raising awareness of the impact of certain incidents on the wider community.

Children will learn:

  • How to develop a safe bedtime routine
  • The dangers of electrical hazards in the home
  • How to prevent wildfires and the wider effects that wildfires, arson and hoax calls can have

Year 7 fire safety sessions run during the Autumn term and up to the February half-term.

Year 7 water safety

This session focuses on how to stay safe around Surrey's many rivers, canals, reservoirs, and lakes. This includes reducing the risk of accidents in or around water, and will teach children vital survival skills that they can use should they find themselves or a friend in trouble in the water.

Children will learn:

  • How to reduce risks in and around water
  • The unseen dangers of water
  • What is cold water shock and how to overcome it
  • How to help someone struggling in the water

Year 7 water safety sessions run from February half-term until the end of the Summer term.

These sessions are classroom-based and are not delivered in an assembly format.
