Suzukis, safaris and Spanish lessons with SAL!

Learner Simon, who is currently studying Spanish with Surrey Adult Learning, has been on some exciting adventures but still makes time to attend his online Spanish lessons from all over the world. He says:

"Travelling through South America as a backpacker I realised my fluent French was no use and I needed to start learning Spanish, so I decided to join a Spanish course with SAL. Since then, I've been able to use my Spanish in many parts of the world, especially because it is one of the most widely spoken languages across the globe.Motorbike

For the last two years, I have continued my learning through Zoom classes, and I love that they are flexible enough that I can join from anywhere whilst also giving me a fixed schedule to help keep me working to improve. I live in Surrey and in the last 18 months while on my travels, I have attended classes from Canada, the Canary Islands, Estonia, France, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and other places.

Languages have been particularly useful in all my travels (in 105 countries so far) as they allow me to make human contact with the everyday life in a country. For example, I have motorcycled all the way around Africa using foreign languages and last week I was motorcycling through Mozambique, using mangled Portuguese based on my Spanish learned at SAL classes!

Being able to use my languages abroad is really energising, plus it keeps me mentally alert and keen to learn more. My next challenge will be travelling through Columbia and Ecuador early next year and I'm looking forward to putting my Spanish into action!

At SAL we offer an exciting choice of modern foreign languages delivered by qualified tutors in a friendly environment where every learner will flourish.

We are also looking for Spanish and German tutors, come join us!
