Discover new skills and opportunities available in Surrey

There are many ways to boost your skills in Surrey for people of all abilities and ages. Some are even free to Surrey residents!

Here are some ways you can get started.

Free numeracy training with Multiply

Need a confidence boost with numbers? Get help figuring things out with Multiply.

There are lots of different courses available – online, group-based or one-to-one. There are even outdoor courses.

All are free and flexible, designed to fit around your work and home life.

Multiply can help you to:

  • Manage your household bills
  • Help your children with homework
  • Make sense of your payslips or benefits
  • Compare deals so you get the best one
  • Get a better-paid job

Skills Bootcamps

We have launched Skills Bootcamps. Free, flexible courses across nine growing and exciting sectors, including cyber security, green construction and health and social care.

Delivered via our approved training providers, with a guaranteed interview at the end of course. You could land a new job after 16 weeks.

Courses are now live, running until March. Register your interest via the Skills Bootcamps website.

Work Wise: Supporting people to get work

Work Wise is a free employment service available to anyone with a mental or physical health condition, disability, or neurodivergence, who wants to work. So, if you're over 16 and live in Surrey it's open to you, or someone you know.

The aim is to support people to find and stay in long-term paid employment. It can also support those already in-work to continue their employment.

Independent skills in libraries

Aimed at older residents, Independent Skills gives people as much choice and control over their own lives as possible. Courses will run in 14 libraries over the next year.

Courses include financial wellbeing, emotional wellbeing, physical health and digital skills. Use your skills to stay independent if things change in the future.

Sign up via the Independent Skills Self-Referral form. Or call the Community Helpline on 0300 200 1008, which is open Monday to Friday from 9am until 5pm.

Surrey Adult Learning courses

Starting from 6 January 2025 Surrey Adult Learning have a new term packed with hundreds of courses and workshops.

You could gain a new skill for work, learn a language, pick up an art or craft class, learn a new recipe, or enjoy some healthy living with nutrition, Yoga, Tai chi, or Pilates.

Courses and workshops will run both online and at our seven centres: Camberley, Esher, Farnham, Guildford, Molesey, Sunbury, and Woking.
