Change is coming to Farnham

Update on improvement works transforming the centre

Works are expected to begin in February 2025 that will transform Farnham town centre.

The plans, which take into account feedback from a public consultation in 2023, aim to improve the quality of public areas, and reduce the dominance of motorised traffic, which contributes to poor air quality, noise pollution and congestion.

The improvements include:

  • Roads and pavements are being resurfaced and upgraded
  • Wider pavements wherever possible. This will give more space for shoppers, planting and seating, as well as loading bays so traders' deliveries don't block roads
  • Drivers will be able to turn right at the bottom of Castle Street so drivers heading down West Street don't need to circulate around the town centre unnecessarily
  • There will be two-way traffic at the bottom of Downing Street so drivers can travel both ways to the Waggon Yard car park
  • Controlled crossings and raised tables will make it safer to cross roads
  • South Street will be resurfaced
