National Highways A3 and M3 weekend closures and A245 improvements

Find out more about M3 and A3 closures and major improvements to the A245

National Highways is closing the A3 in both directions between Junction 10 and Painshill Roundabout/A245 from 9pm on Friday 11 April to 6am Monday 14 April.

This is the first time this stretch of the A3 has been closed as part of the works at the M25/A3 Wisley interchange. The closure is needed to install a new gantry and carry out drainage works. For diversion routes and the most up to date information, please visit the National Highways M25 J10 website.

M3 closure

Separately, National Highways is also closing the M3 from 9pm on Friday 25 April to 6am on Monday 28 April between junctions 3 to 4 on the southbound carriageway and junctions 4a to 3 on the northbound carriageway. This is to install a new Bagshot Heath footbridge. Information on that closure can be found via the National Highways M3 Bagshot Heath footbridge webpage.

Travel advice

We expect roads around the A3 and M3, and their respective diversion routes may be busy, much like the previous weekend closures. Please consider this when making plans and check for traffic updates before travelling.

A245 improvement works

As part of the M25 junction 10/A3 Wisley interchange improvement project, National Highways is making improvements to the A245 and Painshill roundabout. They are due to start a new phase of works at the end of March.

Works on Seven Hills Road and the New Byfleet Road

National Highways will be completing works to enable the New Byfleet Road to be opened to two-way traffic. They will also be installing traffic islands at the Seven Hills Road junction ready for new traffic signals.

Once this phase of work is complete:

  • The New Byfleet Road will be fully opened in both directions and will be accessed from the westbound A245 via the new slip road.
  • Feltonfleet School will have their new access and egress route complete.
  • The works will see a change to the road layout at the Seven Hills Road junction. Once the islands are installed, drivers will no longer be able to turn right from B365 Seven Hills Road North onto the westbound A245 towards Byfleet or go straight across the junction. Instead, drivers will need to turn left and travel to the Painshill roundabout and return.
  • The traffic signals at the A245/Seven Hills Road junction will be reduced from four to three phases.

Road closures on Seven Hills Road North and South

National Highways will need to close parts of the road to carry out these works. Details are as follows:

  • 24/7 southbound closure on Seven Hills Road South - 8pm Friday 28 March to 6am Tuesday 22 April 2025
  • 24/7 southbound closure on Seven Hills Road North between the Queens Road roundabout and the A245 - 8pm Friday 4 April to 6am on Tuesday 22 April 2025.
