Surrey recognised as Inclusive, Diverse, Equitable, and Accessible Champion

Surrey Music Hub has been recognised as an inclusion, diversity, equity and access (IDEA) champion by Youth Music. The Youth Music Network believe that music should be Inclusive, Diverse, Equitable, and Accessible (IDEA) and have created an IDEA Hub. In 2022 Youth Music collaborated with a team of leading experts to build the IDEA Framework. The framework was tested with eight Music Education Hubs through a year of action research and development support. As one of the selected hubs, Surrey Arts created an inclusion, diversity, equality and access (IDEA) strategy where 'tackling inequality so no-one is left behind' was the guiding principle.

Head of Service Sarah Lee said "We are thrilled to be recognised as an inclusion, diversity, equity and access (IDEA) champion by Youth Music. We have really valued being part of the development of the IDEA framework. It has challenged our thinking in this area and will support our ambition to becoming a more inclusive music hub."

The IDEA framework has an action-focussed approach that provides a road-map to realise IDEA ambitions. It's designed to ensure the principles of inclusion, diversity, equity and access are considered across all areas of strategy, culture and operations.
