Winter health
Although many of us manage the season well, it is a good idea to be prepared for the challenges the season can bring so we can stay healthy and well during the winter. Respiratory illnesses are more common during the colder months. However, some of the best things you can do to stay healthy during the winter months is to stay warm, keep active and eat well. It is also important to get your winter vaccinations if you are eligible.
The darker and colder months can be difficult, so it's also important to look after your mental wellbeing. The Healthy Surrey website has self-help tools and tips about the small actions we can all take to improve our mood. There is also information about local services and how to access help and support.
See the Healthy Surrey winter advice webpage for tips on how to stay warm and well, information on the support available and advice on preventing the spread of winter bugs.
Free flu jab for unpaid carers
If you look after a partner, family member or friend who couldn't cope without your help, you're a carer. To keep you well and the person you're caring for as safe as possible, carers in Surrey can get a free flu vaccination this winter.
Flu can be life threatening, especially for those with a weaker immune system, so it's important to get protected. You can ask for a flu jab at your GP or get one for free at local pharmacies. To prove your entitlement at a pharmacy you can show your Surrey Carers Card or request a flu voucher from Action for Carers or other partners.

Winter tips for people with limb differences
Autumn leaves, frost, ice and snow can be a real hazard for amputees and individuals with limb difference. As a result, more slips and falls occur in the autumn and winter months. With this in mind, it makes sense to try and plan-ahead. Visit the LimbPower website for advice on how to stay safe during the upcoming season.
