As a volunteer, you can help keep Surrey's history alive and share and celebrate its arts and culture. There's such variety to the roles here, with the examples below providing just a taste.
Libraries
Local library volunteers play a vital part in Surrey Libraries' mission is to provide and promote access to local and global information and ideas, encourage literacy and support lifelong learning for all Surrey residents. We have a range of opportunities such as assisting customers with technology as a Digital Buddy, leading Rhymetime sessions or visit people who cannot get to the library themselves as a Library Direct Home Service volunteer in locations throughout Surrey.
Arts
Surrey Arts Wardrobe volunteers offer their time, skills and experience to help Surrey Arts provide theatrical costume hire to schools and other groups. The potential roles are varied; from wardrobe assistants to business support.
Heritage
Surrey Heritage volunteers help care for and promote our county's rich past. There's a variety of roles for volunteers; from assisting with archaeological fieldwork, to cataloguing historical photographs and illustrations.
Surrey museums take on volunteers to help preserve the heritage of museums across Surrey, ensuring they continue to inspire and educate future generations. For example, Brooklands museum volunteers cover a range of roles; from stewarding buildings and displays and working on restoration, to working with school and adult groups and marshalling at museum events.
National Trust volunteers help preserve and protect historic places and spaces. There's a role for all tastes, whether you're looking to help in the great outdoors, work with the public or get up close and personal with some famous landmarks.
