Purpose / function of the service

This privacy notice applies to the functions of the Environment and Infrastructure service that carries out the statutory management of abnormal loads function within SCC.

Your personal data has been submitted to us as part of the notification process for the movement of abnormal loads on the public highway, either on a notification or indemnity.

Data is used to manage the movement of abnormal loads on the public highways Surrey County Council is highway authority for.

What information do we collect?

We collect the minimum of information that is necessary to undertake our statutory duty:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Contact Details
  • Contents of any submitted documents

How we are allowed to use your personal data

We are allowed to hold your personal data as it is necessary in order for us to perform our statutory duties under various UK legislation including, but not limited to:

  • Government Statutory Instrument 2003 No.1998 - The Road Vehicles (Authorisation of Special Types) (General) Order 2003

Who we share your personal data with

This data will be shared with SCC legal and insurance representatives should a claim on an indemnity be required.

There are statutory bodies that we may contact and share information with in the course of undertaking our statutory work. These can include:

  • Highways England
  • The Police
  • Network Rail
  • Neighbouring highway authorities and bridge owners

Automated decision making (when computers make any decisions about you)

We do not use automated decision making.

Personal data being sent or processed outside of the UK and EU

We do not send or process data outside of the UK and EU.

Retention of data

Data will be retained as a record of the movement notification received in accordance with SCC's countywide data retention schedule.
