The reasons why we use your personal data

This privacy notice applies to the functions of the Resident Panel service.

What processing of personal data is undertaken by the service

Your personal data is being used to invite you to membership of the Surrey County Council Resident Panel. Your participation as a member will be to provide resident insight and feedback on a range of important issues, including service design, policy design and communications material benefiting all Surrey residents.

In addition, we collect your personal data for equal opportunities monitoring.

  • Employment Status
  • Sex/Gender
  • Ethnic Group
  • Disability status
  • Dependent children on property
  • Parents of SEND children
  • Opinions and expressions

How we are allowed to use your personal data

Initial contact

We will use your personal information, such as name and contact details, in order to invite you to join the Residents Panel under the legal basis of public task - necessary for activities that support or promote democratic engagement.

Consent

If you choose to join the panel, the legal basis under which we conduct subsequent activities relating to the panel is consent.

To process your personal data, we will explain to you what we are asking you to agree to and why. If we have consent to use your personal data, you have the right to remove it at any time. If you want to remove your consent, please contact us at the following email address research@surreycc.gov.uk and we will deal with your request.

We will process your personal ethnicity, health and condition information in accordance with the equality, diversity and inclusion requirements of the Equality Act 2010. When undertaking equality, diversity and inclusion monitoring and also when we undertake research relating to your political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs and data concerning health we will seek your explicit consent respectively.
