The reasons why we use your personal data
This privacy notice applies to the functions of the Environment Service relating to the Tree Planting Programme as part of Surrey County Council's Tree Strategy.

Your personal data is collated for the purposes of supporting Surrey's 1.2 million new trees initiative. Personal data may be collected for the following reasons:
- tracking where new trees have been planted
- organising new tree planting or tree donations
- volunteering opportunities
- communications on tree planting projects
- communications on events

- name or organisation name
- location
- email address
- phone number
- delivery address
When you submit a photograph of your planting, we ask for your consent to display this on our website using the form.
How we are allowed to use your personal data
Consent
To process your personal data, we will explain to you what we are asking you to agree to and why. If we have consent to use your personal data, you have the right to remove it at any time. If you want to remove your consent, please contact us at the following email address trees@surreycc.gov.uk and we will deal with your request.
Who we share your personal data with
The Natural Capital Tree Planting and Establishment Team will contact you concerning data submitted if required, in order to validate your records.
For the interactive map, your first name or organisation name, along with the location and photograph of your tree(s) will be displayed on the public map once approved by a member of the team.
Retention of data
Data will be retained in accordance with the countywide data retention schedule.
