Temporary Prohibition Of Traffic Order 2024
The Surrey County Council Public Bridleway No. 474 (Buckland) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024 was made on the grounds of public safety due to construction work taking place on or near the bridleway. The Order came into operation on 3 June 2024. It was due to expire on 3 September 2024 but was continued in force by the Secretary of State for Transport until 22 October 2024 it was then continued in force by the Secretary of State for Transport for a second time until 05 November 2024, it has now been continued in force by the Secretary of State for Transport until 31 March 2025 or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier.
The Order as continued prohibits all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding in that length of Public Bridleway 474 (Buckland) from point A (Grid reference: 522860 151962) in a South Westerly direction for 149 metres to point B (Grid reference: 522714 151923) shown as a solid line on plan reference: 3/1/40/H11.
The prohibition described above will only be operative while the County Council, or an authorised person acting on its behalf, displays signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002 (S.I. 2002 No. 3113) prohibiting the said movements. Access to properties will not be affected.
The alternative route from point A is to head North East for 120 Metres on Public Bridleway 474 (Buckland), then head generally north for 376 metres on to Public Bridleway 478 (Buckland). Walkers should then head generally West on Public Footpath 476 (Buckland) for 741 metres, then head South East on Buckland Lane for 673 metres to point B. Equestrians and cycle users should then follow Bridleway 478 (Buckland) and 477 (Buckland) in a generally westerly direction to meet Public Byway 479 (Buckland) where you turn to travel in a South Easterly direction to meet Buckland Lane and continue in a south easterly direction to point B.
The alternative route for traffic from point B is the reverse of the route described above.
