Public consultation: application to divert public footpath 138 (Godstone)

Public Notice

Proposed diversion of Public Footpath 138 (Godstone)
Borough of Tandridge
Section 119 Highways Act 1980

Surrey County Council has received an application from Godstone Farm to divert part of public footpath number. 138 (Godstone) as shown on the accompanying plan number. 3/1/26/H39.

The diversion has been applied for to help the Godstone Farm business run more effectively. Godstone farm intends to segregate the footpath users from paying guests and delivery vehicles on the main thoroughfare in the interests of safety, satisfaction and security. The benefit to the public is proposed to be a more pleasant aesthetically pleasing route with opportunities for animal viewing away from site visitors and delivery vehicles.

The existing footpath runs through the middle of Godstone Farm between points A and B on the plan. The surface ranges from soil to grass to crushed stone.

The proposed diversion route would leave the existing footpath at point A and follow a parallel route south east on the new footpath for 110 metres before rejoining the existing footpath at point B. The diversion route is separated from the extinguished route by a hedge line.

The diversion route would range from 1.9 metres wide to 4 metres wide with a crushed hardcore surface topped with road plainings.
