Notice

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14(1) and (2)
The Surrey County Council
Public Footpath 392 (Horley/Salfords and Sidlow)
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023

The Surrey County Council Public Footpath 392 (Horley/Salfords and Sidlow) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023 was made due to a likelihood of danger to the public caused by the surface of the railway crossing becoming damaged and unsafe.

The Order came into operation on 10 November 2023 and was due to expire on 10 May 2024. It has now been extended by the Secretary of State for Transport to allow for repairs to be carried out, until 10 May 2025 or the completion of works, whichever is earlier.

The Order, as continued, will have the effect of prohibiting all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along that length of Footpath 392 (Horley/Salfords and Sidlow) where it crosses the railway line, for approximately 180 metres to the east of its junction with the A23/Bonehurst Road, Horley (Grid reference. 528596, 144843). This is shown as a solid red line between points A and B on plan no. 3/1/45/H30.

The temporary closure will only be in operation while appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.

The alternative route from the western end of the closure will be: Turn around and proceed in a south-westerly direction to reach A23/Bonehurst Road. Turn left onto Bonehurst Road and proceed in a southerly direction to reach the junction with Ladbroke Road. Turn left onto Ladbroke Road and proceed along Ladbroke Road, then Langshott in an easterly direction to reach the junction with Orchard Drive. Turn right onto Orchard Drive and proceed in a northerly direction to reach the junction with Footpath 392. Turn left onto Footpath 392 and proceed in a westerly direction to reach the eastern end of the closure. The alternative route from the eastern end of the closure will be the reverse of the above.
