Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2020
On 24 June 2020 Surrey County Council made the above temporary order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along that length and width of Footpaths 52 (Send) and 45B (Woking) for 15 metres from point A (Grid Ref. 501537 155927) to point B (Grid reference 501519 155927) where it crosses the River Wey by means of a bridge to the east of Fishers Farm and which is marked by a solid bold pink line on the plan 3/1/65/H25.
The Order is necessary on the grounds of public safety due to the poor state of repair of the bridge. The closure has been in operation since 26 June 2020 and was due to expire on 25 December 2023. On 6 December 2023 the Secretary of State extended the closure for a fourth time until 25 December 2024, or to when suitable works are undertaken to the bridge or alternative crossing provided, whichever is earlier. That period can be extended by the Secretary of State for Transport if required.
The temporary closure will only be in operation when this notice and appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.
The alternative route from point A, the eastern side of the closure at the bridge at Fishers Farm is to proceed in an easterly direction for 92 metres along footpath 52 (Send), then turn in a northerly direction along footpath 52A (Send) for 325 metres, crossing Broadmead Cut and continuing as footpath 45A (Woking) in a northerly direction for 255 metres, then turning north-westerly for 145 metres, then turning in a southerly direction along footpath 44 (Woking), for 655 metres to its junction with footpath 45 (Woking), continuing for a further 28 metres as footpath 43 (Woking) then turning in an easterly direction along footpath 45B for 110 metres to point B at the western side of the bridge and closure.
The closure from the western side of the bridge is the reverse of the above. The alternative route is shown as a blue line on the map.
The Surrey County Council Footpaths 52 (Send) and 45B (Woking) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2020 was made by the County Council under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
