Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025
On 3 April 2025 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned temporary order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along Public Bridleway 178 (Farnham) from point A (Grid reference: 485427 143815) heading North East for 715 metres to point B (Grid reference: 485997 144243) shown as a bold line on plan reference: 3/1/18/H106.
The Order is necessary in the interest of public safety due to heavy plant movements on the highway. The closure will be in operation for a period of 24 days from 9 April 2025 or until completion of the works, if earlier. That period can be extended by the Secretary of State for Transport if required.
The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.
The alternative route for horse riders and cyclists is to use Public Bridleways 532 (Tilford) and 583 (Tilford) which run parallel approximately 20 metres to the south of Public Bridleway 178 (Farnham). From there Public Bridleways 67 (Farnham) and 529 (Tilford) can be reached to the North East and Public Bridleway 585 (Frensham) to the South West.
Pedestrians can also access the above mentioned bridleways and can cross from Public Bridleway 532 (Tilford) onto Public Bridleway 178 (Farnham) at point A where Public Footpath 237 (Farnham) can be reached.
"The Public Bridleway 178 (Farnham) Temporary Closure Order 2025" was made by the County Council under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
