Public Byway Open to All Traffic (BOAT) 522 (Tilford)

Notice

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14(1) & (2)
The Surrey County Council
Public Byway Open to All Traffic (BOAT) 522 (Tilford)
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024

On 31 October 2024 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned temporary order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along that length of Public Byway Open to All Traffic 522 (Tilford) at point A at its junction with Public Byway Open to All Traffic 522 (Frensham) (Grid reference: 486162 142054) and which is marked by a solid black dot on plan no. 3/1/15/H23.

The Order is necessary on the grounds of public safety due to the ford being flooded and too deep for safe crossing. Repairs to this ford have been delayed by the need for a licence from the Environment Agency for which SCC are waiting. The closure will be in operation for a period of six months from 07 November 2024, or until the water subsides, or until completion of the works, if earlier. That period can be extended by the Secretary of State for Transport if required.

The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.

There is no alternative route.

"The Surrey County Council Public Byway Open to All Traffic (BOAT) 522 (Tilford) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024" was made by the County Council under Section 14(1) & (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Dated: 14 November 2024

Carolyn McKenzie, Director - Environment
