Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023

The Surrey County Council Public Footpath 184 (Windlesham) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023 was made on the grounds of public safety due to the bridge over the M3 Motorway being declared unsafe by National Highways. The Order came into operation on 12 October 2023 and was due to expire on 2 April 2024. It has now been continued in force for a further 12 months by the Secretary of State for Transport until 2 April 2025 or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier.

The Order as continued will have the effect of prohibiting all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along Public Footpath 184 (Windlesham) at the M3 Bagshot Heath Footbridge over the M3 Motorway between grid ref 491334 162314 and 491377 162240.

The temporary closure will only operate while the County Council, or an authorised person acting on its behalf, displays signs prohibiting the said movements. Access to properties will not be affected.

There is no suggested alternative route around the closure.

The Surrey County Council Public Footpath 184 (Windlesham) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023 was made by the County Council under Section 14(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
