Public Footpaths 171 & 302 (Farnham)
Temporary Prohibition Of Traffic Order 2024
On 29 October 2024 Surrey County Council will make the above mentioned temporary order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along:
Footpath 171 (Farnham) from Grid Ref. 484565 147061 for 227 metres to its junction with Footpath 302 (Farnham) at Grid Reference. 484395 146937
Footpath 302 (Farnham) from its junction with Footpath 171 at Grid Reference. 484395 146937 for 10 metres to Grid Reference. 484401 146947
The Order is necessary during works to widen and resurface Footpath 171 (Farnham) to create a shared pedestrian and cycling route. The scheme also involves installation of lighting and undertaking landscaping including tree work. The closure will be in operation for a period of six months from 4 November 2024 or until completion of the works, if earlier. That period can be extended by the Secretary of State for Transport if required.
The temporary closures will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.
The suggested alternative route for traffic from the north eastern end of Footpath 171 (Farnham) to the Town Centre will be: proceed north west through the Riverside 2 Car Park, south west then north west along Mike Hawthorn Drive, south west then north west along Dogflud Way, south west along East street then south east along South Street to the southwestern end of Footpath 302.
There is no alternative route for Footpath 302 (Farnham)
The Surrey County Council Public Footpaths 171 and 302 (Farnham) Temporary Prohibition Of Traffic Order 2024 will be made by the County Council under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
