A great collection of self-guided walk routes with illustrated leaflets available to enjoy
The Downlands Partnership promotes and helps its partners to maintain a wide range of lovely countryside walk routes of varying lengths across northeast Surrey and in to Croydon and Sutton, which are accompanied by descriptive and illustrated self-guided walk leaflets.
All leaflets are available in traditional hard copy format and some are also available as pdfs.
To request your free hard copies or pdfs, please send an email with your requirements and postal address to: downlands@surreycc.gov.uk or call 01883 341140. Please allow up to three weeks to receive your leaflets by post.
Some of the most popular routes in the Downlands Partnership area have also been reproduced in the AllTrails Explore Surrey Collection and can be downloaded via the links below.
Please note that the Explore Surrey Collection was previously on iFootpath, but in April 2019 iFootpath merged with AllTrails.

Banstead Countryside Walk | 5.5 miles | Trail with varied habitats to explore, traversing the wider countryside around Banstead Woods, including glorious chalk grassland on Chipstead Downs. A4 route overview and map available as a downloadable pdf upon request. Please follow the signposts and waymarks on the route options to enjoy this walk - they are clearly branded with the walk symbol. Sutton Countryside Walk | 5 miles | Farmland and woodland in Carshalton/Woodmansterne, passing by Old Lodge Farm (private 90 acre farm owned by Surrey County Council and the base for the Downlands Partnership grazing service), Little Woodcote Estate, smallholdings and Mayfield Lavender; the lavender field is a stunning shade of purple during summer months. Oaks Park Nature Trail | 2 miles | Stroll through Oaks Park (near Banstead) with meadows woodland, great for families. Allow 1.5-2 hours to enjoy the full trail. Hard copy only available upon request. |
Blanchman's Farm Nature Trail | 0.6 miles | Easy Access trail - lovely community wildlife area in Warlingham with disabled access. Hard copy only available upon request. |
North Downs Ridge Circular Walk | 7 miles | Enjoy the nationally protected landscape of the Surrey Hills AONB from/to Reigate Hill (Wray Lane car park). Shabden and Upper Gatton Parks Circular Walk | 7 miles | Walk through Surrey's most scenic countryside, starting at Chipstead Meads Recreation Ground. Hard copy and downloadable pdf of the full original illustrated walk leaflet available upon request. |
Town and Down Circular Walk | 5 miles | Takes you across two of Surrey's most historic sites: Nork Park and Banstead Downs. A gentle two hour amble starting at Nork Park car park. Hard copy and downloadable pdf of the full original illustrated walk leaflet available upon request. |

Dorking to Gomshall: Walk the Chalk | 7 miles | A linear station to station walk, through some of the finest chalk grassland in Surrey. A very popular walk. Downlands Circular Walk | 6 or 3 miles | Explores beautiful chalk grassland across Happy Valley and beyond. Two starting point options in Coulsdon: Fox PH or Farthing Downs car park. Warlingham Countryside Walks | Various | These two leaflets were produced by Warlingham Parish Council with the support of several local people, the Downlands Partnership and grant funding from the Big Lottery Fund. Hard copies only available upon request. |
Woldingham Countryside Walk | 5.5 miles | Begins and ends at Woldingham station. Traverses the beautiful valleys and views along the Surrey Hills AONB. The latest updated version of this walk leaflet was produced by Downlands Partnership in partnership with Surrey Hills AONB in 2016. |
Easy Access Trail to Colley Hill | 1/4 mile access path | Access to Reigate and Colley Hills was improved in 2012 for people with disabilities, elderly people and parents with pushchairs. The new path at Margery Wood was surfaced by the Downlands Partnership through Heritage Lottery funding (Old Surrey Downs Project) to provide a hard surface, allowing everyone to access the chalk grassland at Colley Hill and to see amazing views across the Weald to the South Downs. London LOOP Linear Walks Pack - South London Section 1-8 | NA | Explore the London Outer Orbital Path, south of the Thames, traversing Surrey and beyond. Covers Old Bexley Village, through West Wickham, Coulsdon, Banstead and Bourne Hall to Kingston-upon-Thames.
