Terms and conditions for booking

  • There are a maximum of 12 spaces per trip.
  • There is a maximum booking of 12 spaces per person.
  • Only one booking can be made per phone call.
  • Maximum age of 12 years for a child to receive a present.
  • Children aged one and over (at the time of the trip) must legally be allocated a space, therefore will be charged at the full rate.
  • Babies under the age of one (at the time of the trip) go free of charge. Should adults wish the baby to receive a present from Father Christmas then there will be a charge of £4.50.
  • We don't accept provisional bookings. Bookings must be confirmed by payment with a credit or debit card. We do not except American Express.
  • Changes after the booking is made will be charged a £6 admin fee. Any changes on the day of the trip will be charged a £10 admin fee.
  • We regret that bookings cannot be exchanged or refunded after purchase. We will offer a refund if we are able to sell the spaces to another family or if the Basingstoke Canal Visitor Services team cancel the trip.
  • No refund will be offered should customers arrive late and the boat has departed on time.
  • A 50% refund will be offered should there be a fault with the boat and it is therefore out of service. The group will be led to the grotto from the canal centre walking along the Gold tinsel trail. The group will still spend the same amount of time with Father Christmas in his grotto.
  • It is the responsibility of the customer to make a note of the time and date of the trip when booking.

Terms and conditions for attending your Grotto visit

  • We regret that we cannot accept any additional presents. All presents handed out by Father Christmas are supplied by the canal centre only.
  • We do not allow any walkers when there is space on the boat - at the time of booking and on the day of the trip.
  • Adult participation is required – this is a Father Christmas rule!
  • Please wear suitable clothing and footwear for outdoor weather.
  • Be aware of naturally occurring hazards in the woods, such as exposed tree roots in pathways and low hanging branches.
  • Children's behaviour is the responsibility of their adult guardian/s.
  • We reserve the right to ask any adults whose child's behaviour is affecting the enjoyment of others to remove the child/children from the grotto.
  • The grotto is decorated for the season with straw on the ground.
  • Only assistance dogs are allowed on the boat and in the grotto.
  • Smoking is not permitted on the boat or in the grotto.
  • The Basingstoke Canal Visitor Services team reserve the right to refuse entry.
