Royal Common forms part of a Site of Special Scientific Interest and has a rich diversity of flora and fauna. The Common is covered with heather, bracken and woodlands of birch and Scots Pine.
The easy access route follows a predominantly flat metalled track southwards across Royal Common from the parking area on B3001, approximately one mile east of Elstead village. There are no WC facilities.
