This role has a starting salary of £22,599 per annum, based on a 36-hour working week. This role is a 24-month fixed term apprenticeship opportunity.

We are very excited to be recruiting anApprentice for the fantastic Blue Badge team here at Surrey County Council. The role will be primarily based in Weybridge but there is an option for the successful candidate to work both in the office and from home.

About Us
The Blue Badge Team play an important role for residents by checking and assessing applications for blue badges to assist disabled people to park near their destination. It is an important role as blue badges benefit disabled people in their everyday lives. 

This role is an apprenticeship and Surrey County Council will support the successful applicant to complete a course of study in administration to achieve a nationally recognised qualification.

Please note: This apprenticeship is only available for those who will not be enrolled in another government funded programme as of 1st September 2024 and do not possess a qualification at a higher or the same level as this one in the same subject. About your Apprenticeship
We want this apprenticeship to be an opportunity for you to gain experience across a wide range of duties putting you in the best position to succeed in your apprenticeship qualification and take the first steps on your career journey! In this role, you will undertake a course of study and develop a range of skills within the requirement of the service to achieve a nationally recognised Apprenticeship qualification NVQ level 3 in Business Administration.

  • You will provide a high standard of performance ensuring confidentiality to enable the service to continue to operate efficiently
  • The successful candidate will support the blue badge team and will work closely with the blue badge team leader
  • There will be opportunity to learn a wide range of business administration and customer service skills
  • Day to day tasks will be varied and include checking blue badge applications, contacting customers by email, letters and phone to give advice and guidance
  • You will be assisting with various projects to promote good customer service

The successful candidate will need a mature "can-do" attitude and enthusiasm for learning and continuous improvement.

We won't be expecting you to jump in and be able to do this all from day one. You'll first go through an induction period allowing you to get used to the office and the team. As you gain more confidence in your role, you'll be supported to do more and more!

The learning side of your apprenticeship will be delivered by Surrey Adult Learning. As you progress through your course, you'll have 2 half days a week of time to study. There may be some face to face workshops and meetings with other apprentices.

As your qualification comes to an end and you begin to turn your eye to the future, we have a fantastic support programme in place that will put you in the best position to take the next step on your exciting career journey. Our desire is for all our apprenticeships to be the first step on a long and successful career journey within SCC.

  4. Please give us an example of the IT programmes you currently use. What experience do you have working with databases?

If you do not hold an English and Maths GCSE graded A-C or 4-9, you will be required to complete these in addition to the apprenticeship in order to achieve the apprenticeship qualification. Additional tutoring and support will be provided.
