The starting salary for this role is £32,743.20 per annum and is based on a 28.8 hour working week. The full time equivalent salary is £40,929 per annum.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time Supervising Social Worker in the Supported Lodgings Team within Surrey's Fostering Service, based at Woodhatch Place, Reigate. The successful candidate will be part of a creative fostering service that works with the theories of trauma, attachment and loss, and restorative practice to ensure the best outcomes for our children.

This role is primarily within the Fostering Team based at Woodhatch Place, Reigate, but you will need to be prepared to travel countywide and/or further afield, therefore you willneed to have the willingness and ability to travel around the county to meetthe demands of the role.

About the Team
The Supported Lodgings Team sits in the fostering service within Surrey Childrens Services and comprises of seven team members. Our aim is to ensure that young people aged 16-25 are supported in family style semi-independent accommodation to help them prepare for independent living. This ensures that they are able to develop the skills and confidence they need alongside being able to make use of the resources available to Surrey Residents. About the Role
The primary focus of the role will be assessing and supervising supported lodgings carers, connected persons foster carers and proposed special guardians, as well as completing assessments for temporary approval under Regulation 24 and carrying out general tasks within the wider fostering team. The role will also involve assessing and supervising carers who offer Private Fostering. Self-motivated and accustomed to working to deadlines, you will have good IT and communication skills, with experience of establishing and nurturing multi-agency relationships.

Shortlisting Criteria
To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:
  • Experience of working with children and young people, and a comprehensive knowledge of legislation relating to Looked After Children and Care Proceedings
  • An ability to work directly with the wider public, foster carers and young people, and be able to produce clear evidence based assessments
  • Flexibility to be able to work evenings and occasional weekends, as the role includes attending events and home visits outside office hours
  • You need to be a qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England
Surrey has both urban and rural areas and locality based social care workers will be expected to have a valid driving licence to drive in the UK and access to a vehicle and be willing to travel across a wide geographical area.
