About the Role
You will be working across the Council's Communications and Customer Services teams to respond to customer service enquiries on social media and gather insight about trending issues. The role will report into and be supported by the new Senior Digital Engagement Officer, with the responsibility for leading resident engagement on social media for the Council.

This is a key role in providing residents with excellent customer service while gathering information on issues that will inform policy decisions and behaviour change campaigns. Emerging issues can be uncovered in real time, helping to avoid them escalating through early intervention, ensuring that every resident has a voice and no one is left behind.

We want to hear what people think of our services, answer questions, log or escalate enquiries, and help to clear up any confusion. You will respond to comments and service requests across our core social media channels with guidance from experts across different services. Your input will help the council to be more open and honest to our 1.2m residents.

You will be part of a wider team responsible for the content on our social media channels, advertising, and our award-winning Surrey Matters newsletter.

We are looking for an organised, proactive and customer focused individual, with excellent writing and planning skills who will help us make a positive impact for our residents.

Shortlisting Criteria
To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:
  • Experience or understanding of managing social media engagement
  • Experience or understanding of social media evaluation
  • An understanding on how to gather and interpret social media information to inform work and/or communication campaigns
  • Strong writing and editing skills, tailored to audience and channel
