About the Team
We are a large team of 13, based in the office 5 days a week providing IT support for SCC staff. The User Experience team is responsible for deploying, installing and repairing hardware in SCC offices. We also provide remote support to our customers, avoiding unnecessary travel when possible.

The team's primary focus is to ensure staff have suitable and stable IT equipment. This year the User Experience team will be deploying 9000 new Windows 11 laptops to all Surrey County Council staff.

About the role
No previous experience is required as you will be shown everything you need for the deployment sessions. You will just need to be comfortable with standard applications such as Windows, Office, Outlook, MS Teams and Edge.

We are looking for people who are comfortable engaging with a small audience who have different technical abilities. You won't be on your own, you will be buddied up with Senior Technicians who will take ownership of the trickier issues.

Although you will be following a tested handover process, you must be able to adapt to each customer. Attention to detail is critical - every laptop must be recorded as it's handed to a customer, with equal importance given to returned laptops.

You must be able to think on your feet and be flexible with last minute changes to appointments and have the ability to handle unexpected technical difficulties and questions from customers.

Shortlisting Criteria
To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:
  • Experience with MS Windows, Office, Outlook, MS Teams and Edge
  • Good communication skills and the ability to communicate with a wide variety of people.
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Attention to detail
  • Full UK driving licence
