Description
This role has a starting salary of £29,697 per annum, based on a 36 hour working week.
We are excited to be hiring a new Lead Outdoor Learning Instructor to join Surrey Outdoor Learning and Development (SOLD). This is a full time, year round role, working across all of SOLD centres, with a primary base at Thames Young Mariners, Ham, near Richmond in Surrey. This role commences in January 2025. There is possible option of accommodation for the right applicant.

About the Role

We have a fantastic opportunity in our delivery team for an experienced and dynamic full time Lead Outdoor Learning Instructor. You will be playing a key role supporting our Senior Outdoor Learning Instructor in supervising the day-to-day programme and staff, ensuring that our visitors receive high quality outdoor learning experiences.
This role will be required to supervise staff and resources; leading in the delivery of activities, ensuring safe practice and high-quality standards at the centre are maintained on a day-to-day basis, and ensuring effective programme delivery. The role will influence the quality of our services by inspiring and motivating the team through training, support and performance management.
Shortlisting Criteria
To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:
- Holder of RYA Senior Instructor (S.I.) or Dinghy Instructor aspiring to be S.I.
- A comprehensive understanding and experience of outdoor learning in a range of settings
- Relevant National Governing Body (NGB) Qualifications
- Experience of maintaining NGB recognition and health and safety guidelines
- Experience of managing / leading a small team
- Ability to deal with complex logistics and customer requirements in a calm and professional approach
- Positive and solution focussed
