Location: Joint Fire Control Room, Salfords, Surrey
Working Hours: Flexible, covering 24/7 shifts (days, nights, and weekends)

About the Role

Are you experienced in a control room environment? Do you thrive under pressure? Are you a collaborative team player? If so, we invite you to join our dynamic team at Surrey Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS).
We are seeking Joint Fire Control Room Operators on a bank contract basis to provide support as needed. This role plays a critical part in delivering emergency services across Surrey, West Sussex, and East Sussex.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and manage emergency calls from the public.
  • Mobilise fire engines and crews to incidents promptly and accurately.
  • Support ongoing incident management and coordination.
  • Execute emergency and non-emergency tasks to maintain an effective Fire Service response.
  • Work confidently under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and partner agencies.

Requirements

Please ensure your supporting statement addresses the following criteria:
  • Qualifications: 5 GCSEs (grade C/Level 4 or equivalent), including English and Maths.
  • Experience: Prior or current experience in a control room or similar setting.
  • Skills:
    • Fast and accurate keyboard skills.
    • Strong verbal and written communication.
    • Confident telephone manner.
