Location: Woodhatch (with travel across Surrey)
Status: Temporary – 6 or 12 months
Pay: Watch Commander B + 10% (or Development WC + 10%)

About the Role
Surrey Fire and Rescue Service is offering a unique opportunity to join the Operational Performance Support function. This temporary position is focused on improving operational effectiveness through coaching, mentoring, learning capture, and service-wide improvement.
This is not a promotional process. Firefighters and Crew Commanders appointed to the role will receive the Development Watch Commander salary plus 10%, but will not receive a development folder unless they undertake and pass a formal promotional onboarding process.
Key Responsibilities
Support and coach operational crews at incidents
Initiate and undertake small station debriefs and support post-event reviews
Capture learning outcomes, produce debrief reports and recommend service improvements
Develop and implement innovative ways of working across SFRS and the Southeast region
Contribute to operational learning using internal and external data sources
Ride operationally at least one day per month to maintain competence
Work flexibly to meet the needs of the role
Essential Requirements
Must hold a current operational role as a Competent Firefighter, Crew Commander (Development or Competent), or Watch Commander (Development or Competent)
Ability to travel throughout the county
Strong communication, leadership and mentoring skills
Willingness to support change and continuous improvement initiatives
Flexible and proactive approach to workload and hours
