Healthy Placemaking

Linkages between health and the environment have long been established. The design of our neighbourhoods can influence physical activity levels, travel patterns, social connectivity, mental and physical health, and wellbeing outcomes. The Surrey Health and Planning Forum seeks to strengthen links across planning and health teams by providing a forum for health and planning officers to come together.

The forum has produced information on health and spatial planning in Surrey which outlines the organisations responsible and signposts to tools which can be used for healthy place making.

The forum has also explored the use of health impact assessment as a tool for guiding the planning process. The guidance statement outlines the Public Health team's stance on Health Impact Assessment.
