Science Workshop

Tuesday 15 April, from 2.30pm to 3.30pm.

Join us for this Easter themed Egg Drop Engineering Challenge!

Event suitable for ages 6 to 10.

Code your own game with Scratch

Thursday 17 April  from 2.30pm to 3.30pm.

Suitable for beginners as well as children who have attended previous sessions.

Wildlife Wednesdays with What Next?

From 3pm to 4pm, Wednesdays, on the following dates:

Join What Next for a walk on the Godalming Lammas Lands to explore the many insects, mammals and amphibians and plants that can be found there.

For adults and children aged 8+. Donations welcomed.

Saturday drop In crafts

19 April: Make an Easter Bunny Bookmark. Drop in anytime between 12 noon and 4pm.

Join us on Saturday afternoons in the Easter Holidays for some Easter Crafts.

Donations welcomed.

Shakespeare in discussion

Wednesday 23 April from 4pm until 5pm.

Join us for a special Shakespeare themed discussion group hosted by Andrew and Lindsey! Attendees are welcome to bring their wildest questions and theories to discuss with the group. No specialist knowledge required. Celebrate Shakespeare's birthday, death day, and World Book Night all in one go!

Cost: Free but donations welcome.

This is a drop in session, no need to book, this event is aimed at adults.

Living Knowledge Network: Unearthed

Unearthed runs from Thursday 1 until Saturday 31 May at Godalming library.

Godalming Library will be hosting an exhibition from the British Library Living Knowledge Network called ‘Unearthed’, which focuses on gardens, plants and community sustainability. Unearthed explores the transformative power of gardening, tracing personal stories alongside global histories. It celebrates gardening as a force for creativity, resilience and connection. From the people who have fought for the right and space to garden to the stories of the plants we use for food and medicine, discover how gardening has shaped our lives, our communities, and our planet.

Alongside the exhibition there will be several events happening at Godalming Library throughout the month of May, with a focus on plants and gardening:

  • Every Tuesday at 11am.
  • Every Thursday at 11am.
  • Every Saturday at 11am.

Reading groups

Godalming library reading group

First Thursday of the month, from 2pm until 3pm.

Chatterbooks reading group

Fourth Thursday of every month from 4pm until 5pm.

The Chatterbooks reading group is suitable for ages 8 to 10 years.

First Friday of the month from 2pm until 3pm.

Other events

Hearing Aid clinic

The Hearing Aid Clinic is provided by National Health Service (NHS) trained volunteers. Free hearing aid maintenance, battery changes and advice. NHS supplied hearing aids only. No booking is required.

Third Monday of the month from 10.30am until 12.30pm, on the following dates:

  • 18 August
  • 15 September
  • 20 October
  • 17 November
  • 15 December

Dungeons and Dragons

Every Saturday during term time from 1pm to 3pm for ages 15 to 18 years old.

Join the Wayfarer's League on a new adventure at Godalming Library as our Dungeon Masters guide you through character creation and learning the joys of table top roleplaying. You will then venture forth with your newly made character, along with your party members on a grand adventure!

Dice, Character sheets and all materials are provided.

Cost: £10 per session, paid by the term. Spaces are limited so booking necessary.

Lego and Duplo club

Every Monday from 4pm until 5pm

Lego suitable for ages 6+ or Duplo available for younger children aged 2 to 5.

What next? Wednesdays

Every Wednesday from 2pm until 5pm

Local charity What Next? will be in Godalming Library offering eco advice, information and support. Come and chat to one of their volunteers, share your thoughts and concerns.

What Next? wardrobe warriors

Second Wednesday of every month from 3pm to 5pm

We will help you keep your favourite, comfy clothes going for longer. We can be company whilst you sew on a button or put up a hem. We will have needles, thread in a few colours, a sewing machine and some people who can sew. Bring your buttonless tops, your toeless socks and your holey frocks.

Godalming library Reading Friends poetry group

Godalming Library invites you to join our friendly and informal Poetry Group.

Thursday afternoons, once a month, from 2pm to 3pm. Upcoming dates and themes:

  • 17 April: Protest
  • 15 May: Song lyrics
  • 12 June: Poetry and writing
  • 17 July: Technology
  • 21 August: "Bad" poems or poems we don't like
  • 18 September: Food
  • 16 October: School
  • 13 November: Freedom and Captivity
  • 18 December: Free Choice

No specialist knowledge is required, just an interest in sharing our enjoyment of poetry. We will be reading some poetry and talking about the poems and poets we love.

You can express an interest in joining the Godalming library Reading Friends poetry group by completing our Reading friends participant application form.

French conversation group

Meets on the third Wednesday of the month from 2pm to 3pm. All Welcome!

German conversation group

Meets on the last Friday of the month from 10.30am until 11.30am. All Welcome!

Digital support volunteer

Free, one to one, 45 minute computer help sessions.

Appointments are available on:

  • Mondays at 10am, 10.45am and 11.30am.
  • Fridays at 2pm, 2.45pm and 3.30pm.
