Upper Hale Road 20mph consultation feedback

Two consultations ran relating to the introduction of a 20mph speed limit in Upper Hale Road in Farnham. One covered the speed limit change and one covered traffic calming. They were agreed by the County Councillor for Farnham North, and Surrey County Council's parking and traffic enforcement team manager, before going to consultation.

For both consultations, street notices and public notices were published. Information was available online, and in local libraries and council buildings as hard copies. Members of the public were asked to submit either a support, comment or objection response.

Speed limit consultation

The 20mph speed limit proposal on Upper Hale Road was advertised for consultation from 1 February to 22 February 2024. Members of the public were referred to drawings and a statement of reasons document on the speed limit consultation can still be viewed online.

There was one response in support and two objections, no additional comments were received. All responses were read and considered in full against scheme objectives.

Having carefully considered the responses, it was agreed with the County Councillor for Farnham North to continue with the scheme as advertised. A direct response has been made to each of the objections. This decision is final and there is no appeal process.

Traffic calming

Proposals for traffic calming measures to support the 20mph speed limit in Upper Hale Road was advertised for consultation from 17 August to 14 September 2023. Members of the public were referred to drawings and a statement of reasons document on the traffic calming measures can still be viewed online.

There was 96 responses in support and 33 objections, 27 additional comments were received. All responses were read and considered in full against scheme objectives.

Having carefully considered the responses, it was agreed with the County Councillor for Farnham North to continue with the scheme as advertised. A direct response has been made to each of the objections. This decision is final and there is no appeal process.
