Guildford Borough Council's local plan includes a number of policies that seek to ensure that any new developments can be served by sustainable transport means wherever possible. We advise Guildford Borough Council on the transport aspects of planning applications to ensure this is achieved and make Guildford a more accessible town for all.
Below are some of the development sites most significant to the Guildford urban area and its transport infrastructure at this point in time.
Guildford Station redevelopment works
The scheme will include the transformation of Guildford Station car park. A new station quarter will be home to a new station building, 438 new homes, retail, office space and an enhanced station environment with a new entrance. More information regarding the plans can be found on planning application reference 14/P/02168.
North Street regeneration
Developers St Edward Homes propose a mixed-use redevelopment of Guildford's North Street with plans to build 471 new homes, an updated bus station, and pedestrianisation of North Street. For more details and to see the plans please visit the North Street regeneration website or planning application reference 23/P/01211.
Weyside Urban Village
Weyside Urban Village will deliver a new community of 1,550 homes alongside the River Wey. It will be sensitively integrated and strongly connected with the adjacent Weyfield community, as well as delivering the northern section of Guildford's Sustainable Movement Corridor, creating a priority pathway to the town centre for cycle, pedestrian and public transport. For more information, please visit the Weyside Urban Village website or planning application reference 20/P/02155.
Guildford Borough Council's site allocation
In addition to the above existing planning permissions, Guildford Borough Council has identified a number of sites that could provide new homes, employment, and services for the borough in the future. The largest in the Guildford urban area are Gosden Hill Farm, Merrow Lane and Blackwell Farm.
