Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024

On 20 March 2024 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of;

(a) Court Road (D1426) Caterham as extends from its junction with (D1426) Birch Avenue to its junction with (D1426) Poplar Walk.

Alternative Route: Court Road, (B2031) Chaldon Road, (B2030) High Street, and Court Road, or this route in reverse.

(b) Park Road (D1426) Caterham as extends from its junction with (B2031) Chaldon Road to its junction with (D1426) Poplar Walk.

Alternative Route: (B2031) Chaldon Road, (B2030) High Street, and Park Road.

This Order is required to facilitate renewal of drainage system works for, or on behalf of Surrey County Council. These works are anticipated to be carried out as soon as possible within 18-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 08 April 2024.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. It will not be possible to maintain access through the closure for emergency services, residents and businesses and all vehicular traffic will be required to use the signed diversion route. The Council are satisfied that, in accordance with Section 3(2)(a) and 3(2)(b) of the Act, vehicular access to and from premises within the length of road above, or accessible only therefrom, may be restricted in order to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road and/or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.
