Farncombe Street (D98) Godalming
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.2) 2024
On 20 March 2024 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of
(a) Farncombe Street (D98) Godalming that is crossed by the Portsmouth Direct Line Level-Crossing and for a distance of 20 metres on each side; and
(b) Suspend "The Surrey County Council Farncombe Street (D98) Godalming Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023" insofar as it affects that length of road specified in part (a) of this Notice.
Alternative Route: Farncombe Street, Binscombe Lane, Binscombe, Green Lane, Bourne Road, Summers Road, and Farncombe Street, or this route in reverse.
This Order is required to facilitate level-crossing maintenance and/or improvement works to be carried out for, or on behalf of Network Rail within the length of road described in this notice. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 10 nights between the hours of 10pm and 6am within the 18-month period of operation of this Temporary Traffic Order which commences on 12 April 2024.
Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times via the Marshalls on site. Due to the nature of the works it will not be possible to maintain vehicular access through the closure, and all vehicular traffic, including the emergency services will be required to use the signed diversion route. No sole access will be affected by this closure.
