Temporary Speed Limit Order 2024
On 10 April 2024 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from driving or proceeding at a speed greater than 30 MPH in that length of;
(a) the north-eastbound carriageway of London Road (A30) Virginia Water as extends from its junction with (X96155) Meadow Road to its junction with (B389) Christchurch Road; and
(b) the south-westbound carriageway of London Road (A30) Virginia Water as extends from its junction with (B389) Christchurch Road to its junction with (X96155) Meadow Road; and
(c) Suspend "The Surrey County Council The London Traffic (40M.P.H Speed Limit) (No.1) Regulations 159 (Amendment) Order 2023" insofar as affects the length of road described in (a) and (b) of this Notice.
This Temporary Traffic Order is required to allow a safe working zone in connection highway maintenance works for, or on behalf of Surrey County Council. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 10 months, between the hours of 8am and 5pm, within the 18-month period of operation of this Temporary Traffic Order which commences on 20 April 2024.
Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary speed limit which is anticipated to be in force 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. The speed limit imposed by this Order shall not apply to vehicles used by special forces in accordance with the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 or in respect of anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or in accordance with any restriction or requirement indicated by traffic signs placed on the road by or on behalf of the Police.
