New Road (A248) Chilworth
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024

On 10 April 2024 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of;

(a) New Road (A248) Chilworth that is crossed by the level crossing known as "Chilworth Level Crossing" and for a distance of 20 metres on either side; and

(b) Suspend "The Surrey County Council New Road (A248) Chilworth Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023" in its entirety.

(2) (A248) New Road, (A248) Kings Road, (D208) Kings Road, (A281) The Street, (A281) Shalford Road, (A281) Quarry Street, (A281) Milbrook, (A322) Onslow Street, (A31) Farnham Road, (A322) Bridge Street, (A322) Onslow Street, (A246) York Road, (A246) Waterden Road, (A246) Epsom Road, (A25) Epsom Road, (A25) Shere Road, (A248) Sherbourne, (A248) The Street, (A248) Chilworth Road, and (A248) Dorking Road.

The Order is required to facilitate auxiliary maintenance works, for, or on behalf of Network Rail. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 3 nights between the hours of 10pm and 6am within the 18-month period of operation of this Temporary Traffic Order which commences on 24 April 2024.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists.
