Sheephouse Lane (D285) and Damphurst Lane (D285) Dorking
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.1) 2024

On 24 April 2024 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of;

(a) Sheephouse Lane (D285) Wotton as extends from its junction with (A25) Guildford Road to its junction with (D285) Damphurst Lane;

(b) Damphurst Lane (D285) as extends from its junction with (D285) Sheephouse Lane (Wotton) to its junction with (D285) Sheephouse Lane (Abinger);

(c) Sheephouse Lane (D285) Abinger as extends from its junction with (D285) Damphurst Lane to its junction with (D286) Broadmoor Road;

(d) Suspend "The Surrey County Council Various Roads in Mole Valley Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.3) 2023" insofar as it affects the lengths of roads specified in this Notice.

Alternative Route: (A25) Guildford Road, Hollow Lane, Abinger Lane, Leith Hill Road, and Sheephouse Lane, or this route in reverse.

This Order is required to facilitate highways improvements and/or maintenance works including but not limited to surface dressing and/or carriageway/ footway resurfacing and/or major highway maintenance works by, or on behalf of Surrey County Council. These works are anticipated to be carried out as soon as possible, between the hours of 8am and 5pm within the 18-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 30 April 2024.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed; and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle's owner. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times, as will access for emergency service vehicles in an emergency situation only. Vehicular access for residents and businesses will be maintained only when safe to do so, if necessary, via the diversion route.
