Temporary Speed Limit Order 2024
On 22 May 2024 Surrey County Council Made the above-mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) and 15(8)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to;
(a) temporarily prohibit vehicles from driving or proceeding at a speed greater than 40 MPH in that length of Shere Road (A25) Guildford as extends from its junction with (D227) Queen Street to its junction with (A248) Sherbourne;
(b) Suspend "Any Speed Limit Order made or having effect as if made under Sections 82, 83 and/or 84 of the Act" insofar as affects the length of road described in part (a) of this Notice.
This Temporary Speed Limit Order is required to allow a safe working zone in connection with emergency water works for, Road Traffic Solutions on behalf of Thames Water. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 10 weeks, between the hours of 7am and 5pm, within 11-month period of operation of this Order which commences on 28 May 2024 and continues in force the provisions introduced by "The Surrey County Council Shere Road (A25) Guildford Temporary Speed Limit Notice 2024" issued under Section 14(2) of the Act on 7 May 2024.
Advanced warning signs will be displayed; and the temporary closure and suspension, which is anticipated to be in force 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. The speed limit imposed by this Order shall not apply to vehicles used by special forces in accordance with the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 or in respect of anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or in accordance with any restriction or requirement indicated by traffic signs placed on the road by or on behalf of the Police.
