Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.2) 2024

On 22 May 2024 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the lengths of;

(a) roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice; and

(b) suspend "The Surrey County Council Burrows Lane (D227) Gomshall Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023" in its entirety as it affects that length of road specified in part (1) of the Schedule to this Notice;

(c) suspend "The Surrey County Council Burrows Lane (D227) Gomshall Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024" in its entirety as it affects that length of road specified in part (1) of the Schedule to this Notice;

(d) suspend "The Surrey County Council New Road (A248) Chilworth 2023" in its entirety as it affects that length of road specified in part (2) of the Schedule to this Notice;

(e) Suspend "The Surrey County Council New Road (A248) Chilworth 2024" in its entirety as it affects that length of road specified in part (2) of the Schedule to this Notice; (f) suspend "The Surrey County Council Brook Hill (D194) Albury 2023" in its entirety as it affects that length of road specified in part (3) of the Schedule to this Notice.

This Order is required to facilitate North Downs Line Upgrade works for, or on behalf of Core Highways. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 2 nights between the hours of 11pm and 6.30am within 18-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 08 June 2024.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in force 24 hours a day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and cyclists. No sole access is affected by these closures.

Schedule

(1) that length of Burrows Lane (D227) Gomshall that is crossed by the level crossing known as "Burrows Lane Level Crossing" and for a distance of 40 metres on either side.

Alternative Route: Burrows Lane, Hook Lane, Sandy Lane, Shere Heath Road, Park Road, New Road, (A248) Sherbourne, (A25) Shere Road, and Queen Street, or this route in reverse

(2) that length of New Road (A248) Chilworth that is crossed by the level crossing known as "Chilworth Level Crossing" and for a distance of 40 metres on either side.

Alternative Route: (i) (A248) Dorking Road, (A248) Chilworth Road, (A248) The Street, (A248) Sherbourne, (A25) Shere Road, (A25) Epsom Road, (A246) Epsom Road, (A246) Waterden Road, (A246) York Road, (A322) Onslow Street, (A281) Milbrook, (A281) Quarry Street, (A281) Shalford Road, (A281) The Street, (A281) Horsham Road, (A248) Kings Road, and (A248) New Road;

(ii) (A248) New Road, (A248) Kings Road, (A281) Horsham Road, (A281) The Street, (A281) Shalford Road, (A281) Quarry Street, (A281) Milbrook, (A322) Onslow Street, (A31) Farnham Road, (A322) Bridge Street, (A322) Onslow Street, (A246) York Road, (A246) Waterden Road, (A246) Epsom Road, (A25) Epsom Road, (A25) Shere Road, (A248) Sherbourne, (A248) The Street, (A248) Chilworth Road, and (A248) Dorking Road.

(3) that length of Brook Hill (D194) Albury that is crossed by the level crossing known as "Brook Level Crossing" and for a distance of 30 metres on either side.

Alternative Route: Brook Hill, Park Road, Little London, Brook Lane, and Brook Hill, or this route in reverse.
