Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024

On 29 May 2024 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of Wickham Lane (D3171) Egham.

This Order is required to facilitate new drainage system works for, or on behalf of Surrey County Council. These works are anticipated to be carried out as soon as possible between the hours of 9am and 5pm within 18-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 14 June 2024.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle's owner. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times, as will access for emergency service vehicles in an emergency situation only.

Due to the nature of the works, it will not be possible to maintain vehicular access through the closure for residents while work is in place. In the event that it is necessary to restrict any access at any time, under Section 3 of the Act, the road can only be closed for a maximum of 8 hours in any 24-hour period. There is no alternative route for this closure.
