Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023

On 30 August 2023 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Wilderness Road (D4017) Guildford as extends from its junction with (A3) Guildford- Godalming By-pass Guildford to its junction with (D4017) Queen Eleanors Road.

Alternative Route: Southbound from A3- The Chase, Elmside, and Queen Elenanors Road and Southbound onto A3- Wilderness Road, The Crossways, and Manor Way.

This Order is required to facilitate installation of filtration cubes and monitoring equipment for air quality trial works for, or on behalf of National Highways. These works are anticipated to be completed over 7 months, within 18-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 11 September 2023.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians will be maintained at all times. Due to the nature of the works, it will not be possible to maintain vehicular access through the closure, and all vehicular traffic, including the emergency services will be required to use the signed diversion route. No sole access will be affected by this closure.
