Gritting update on Wednesday 20 November
We will be gritting all priority one routes across Surrey from 7pm and then a further run at 4am on Thursday 21 November.
Communication on road gritting
When we have made the decision to grit the road we will communicate this information to our members, residents and road users in a number of different ways. These are as follows,
- Use of Variable Message Signs at the side of the road.
- Posting on Surrey Highways media channels (Facebook and X)
- Posting on Surrey County Council website
- Post a status message at the bottom of the roadwork map
This map provides gritting and salting route information, as well as the locations of grit bins.
Insurance claims against the council
This page provides more information on how to submit a claim for personal injury and vehicle or property damage insurance claims.
Please note that Surrey County Council do not settle claims for compensation automatically but will investigate and assess each claim individually. We will defend claims if no legal liability exists or if we have a defence under Section 58 of the Highways Act.
