Pottery & Claywork - A Taster Day

Course intent

Learn the essential hand building techniques in clay and get a taste of what working in a pottery studio is like. Choose your two favourite pieces from the day and they will be bisque fired and clear glazed for you to collect at a later date.

What will I learn?

You will learn: · a variety of hand building techniques · some decorating techniques · a taste of throwing on the potters’ wheel

The two favourite pots you make will be bisque fired and glazed with a transparent glaze for you and will be available for collection at a later date.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This course is for absolute beginners or for beginners who want to refresh their skills.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

You need to bring: · a notebook · wear old clothes or an apron · wear close-toed shoes · packed lunch and refreshments to eat during the lunch break

What can I do when I finish the course?

You can progress onto longer Pottery & Claywork courses, or try out further Saturday workshops. There is also a wide choice of other arts & crafts courses available.
