Course intent

Every cold part of the world that needs to keep a head warm, has its own version of the Watch Cap. The silhouette of the modern cap was standardised by the US Navy in the mid-20th century. If you look at any film made after WWII or newsreels of the time, the archetypal cap appears, synonymous with biting winds and the high seas. The great thing about this cap, made in a multiple of 6 sections, is that you can make it as simple or as complicated as your skills allow. Its suitable for all genders and its simplicity is a thing of beauty that will be worn and cherished for years.

What will I learn?

You will learn to · cast on and knot 'in the round', using a traditional fully fashioned knit technique to shape the cap · experiment with different stitches: all or just some of the sections can be experimented with within the watch cap pattern

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

What can I do when I finish the course?
