Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This course is designed as a ‘how to’ for beginners to dress-making. No experience is necessary, although some familiarity with a sewing machine would be useful but not essential.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

A ‘needs list’ will be sent out before the start of the workshop which will include what you need to bring and where to source fabrics.

You are required to provide your own fabrics and thread for your individual work. You will also need basic sewing equipment, eg pins, needles and scissors etc. A notepad and pencil are always useful.

Sewing machines belonging to the centre are available to use during the course.

What can I do when I finish the course?

This workshop can be studied in isolation or considered as an introduction into a much larger subject area that makes a creative hobby. Further courses will be offered throughout the year by Surrey Adult Learning to develop the newly acquired skills and this subject area. Occasional Saturday classes and other Needlecraft classes will also be offered. For further details, please visit our website – www.surreycc.gov.uk/adultlearnng
