Life & Portrait - Drawing & Painting with Life Model - All Abilities

Course intent

Develop skills and know-how in life drawing and painting. You will discover new techniques and strengthen existing observational drawing skills, working exclusively from the unclothed figure, and using a variety of poses.

What will I learn?

You will learn: · measuring and proportion · composition and scale · negative space · rhythm and gesture · specific tuition on techniques for learners’ chosen materials

The tutor will demonstrate techniques and give group and individual instruction and support.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This course is for all abilities and all are welcome, whether you have no previous drawing experience or are looking to sharpen your skills. I will offer individual support and feedback throughout the session as we together experiment with different approaches.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

You need to bring: · a pad of white A1 and/or A2 cartridge paper (120 gsm or more) · some lighter-weight cheaper A1/ A2 paper for quick poses · a selection of drawing media (pencils, rubbers, charcoal etc.) · a brush or two, if possible · Please be prepared to get a little messy so wear old clothes

Boards and easels are provided.
