Course intent
Learn how to draw a portrait from life. Experiment with different ways of using scale, space, line and colour to create dynamic portraits working from a clothed model. Explore expressive mark-making when drawing the portrait head, then move towards using composition, line and colour to create dynamic interpretations of the head. These may include abstraction, emphasis, as well as different moods and emotions.

This course is for all abilities.
What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
You need to bring: · A2 cartridge paper · Additional paper in different colours (this could just be 5 different sheets ranging from A4-A3 size) · Drawing media (any combination of pencil, graphite, charcoal, pen etc.) · Colour pastels (chalk or oil) · Masking tape
What can I do when I finish the course?
Learners can progress onto many opportunities to take up other art & craft classes, including further drawing and painting courses or one-day specific life drawing workshops.
