High volumes of enquiries - July 2024

Due to high numbers of enquiries, there are currently longer waiting times on the phones and a delay to responses for voicemails, emails and enquiries.

We apologise for any inconvenience and are working as quickly as possible to get to you.

Course intent

This course will establish a range of styles and techniques of Acrylic Painting through the study and practise of traditional and more contemporary artists.

What will I learn?

You will: · Develop the use of tone, colour, composition and perspective · Gain confidence in using acrylic materials and be encouraged to take part in group discussions · Cover a range of techniques and styles from the traditional to the more modern · Have access to one-to-one support as well as group discussions on various topics · Develop personal expression through a mixture of practice, discussion and demonstration techniques

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This course is for all abilities. Some experience of acrylic painting would be helpful although this is not essential.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

You need to bring: · Any acrylic materials you have or a set of acrylic paints · Brushes · A tear off palette · Watercolour or acrylic paper, canvas or canvas board · A pad of A3 cartridge paper · Soft grade of pencils (2B to 6B) · Soft rubber

Materials will be discussed at the first session with advice on what to bring for the course.

If you have any queries, please email the tutor at roger.hutchins@surreycc.gov.uk

What can I do when I finish the course?

In discussion with your tutor you may like to progress onto further art courses at SAL.
